Crafted Ronin- Rainbow Academy Graduation Project

Rainbow Academy is a professional school, part of the italian animation studio Rainbow CGI.

Yep, the ones who made Winx Club, and Huntik.

And it’s where I completed a Digital Concept Art course in 2019, graduating from the course with the Crafted Ronin concept design project. Some blood and sweat were poured into this concept, and I am striving forward to improve my technique and production quality.

But I am still proud of the concept behind this little, brave fellow, and of the lessons it taught me. It’s time for him to see the light and meet everyone. Say hello… to the Crafted Ronin!

I initially came up with the Crafted Ronin concept as a sort of “placeholder” character concept, made for the sake of an original experiment, but later ended up falling in love with the little guy. It turned out to be way more complex than I thought to flesh out, and by the end of it I was sort of regretting my “hubrys”. Now I love him again, and it thought me to NOT underestimate projects in the future.
